Burmese Cats are more intelligent and affectionate than many cats. They love people, especially children and don't like being left alone. If you are out all day, it's better to have two cats. Burmese get along well with other pets. The sleek, shorthaired coat of the Burmese is easy to groom. Weekly grooming will remove dead hairs.
Burmese Cats - Description
Burmese Cats are of medium size, with substantial bone structure and good muscles. They are rather heavy for their size. Burmese possess no evidence of obesity, paunchiness, weakness, or apathy. They are strong, athletic and elegant cats of foreign, but not extreme type. At maturity males are large and handsome, females are more delicate and graceful, the difference in weight between them may be 2-3 pounds. The chest of Burmese Cats is rounded in profile; the back is straight. Legs are slender, with hind legs slightly longer than the front, paws neat and oval. The tail should be straight and tapering to a rounded tip.
The head of a purebred Burmese is rounded without flat planes. In profile there is a noticeable nose break. The ears and eyes are set well apart. The ears are of medium size, broad at the base and rounded at the tips, tilting slightly forward and contributing an alert appearance. Eyes should be large and lustrous, any shade of yellow from chartreuse to amber, with golden yellow as the preferred color. In kittens eye color is developing for about a year. In older Burmese Cats eye color dilutes.
