Burmese Cats - Faults
The standard for purebred Burmese Cats is very strict. Animals with following characteristics are disqualified.
- Muzzle pinch in adults
- Flat or dished brow
s
- Nose showing bumps
- Nose leather falling away markedly
- Round or oriental eyes
- Small or close set eyes
- Green, copper, or orange eyes
- Ticking or smoke undercoat
- Extremes of coat color
- Bony excrescence at end of tail.
Burmese Cats - Teeth and Claws
Burmese Cats require special tooth care. They should be brushed several times a week. Don't use toothpaste for humans, as it can cause stomachache. A finger brush will do fine. It's good to feed the cat plaque and tartar control foods and treats.

It's recommended to keep the claws the cat was born with. Declawing is cruel, disfiguring, and may cause the cat physical and physiological suffering, because cats use their claws to stretch, play, exercise, and mark territory. After a declawing operation, cats may have infections or problems with balancing. Claws may grow back through the inside of the paw, causing great pain. Even the cat's personality can change.
The master should find mutually satisfying alternatives to declawing. Provide a scratching post made with cardboard, wood, or something on which the cat enjoys scratching. Keep this post nearby to where the cat sleeps, because it likes to scratch and stretch after waking up. Trim the cat's nails with proper clippers weekly. You can apply sticky acrylic based tape to the furniture or use nail caps for your Burmese Cats.
