Burmese Cat for Sale

Prior to looking for a Burmese Cat for sale, learn everything you can find concerning the breed. To become a responsible owner, you have to know the history of the breed, its original purpose, typical habits and personality, keeping requirements, and so forth. The true origin of the breed is unknown. The Burmese Cat was taken from Thailand (Siam) by the Burmese army in the 18th century. Supposedly, Burmese Cats were used as temple cats along with the Siamese.

Nowadays, the Burmese Cat comes in a variety of colors, and you can choose almost any Burmese Cat for sale. When this cat breed was brought to Europe in the 19th century, it was taken for a color variety of the Siamese and has not gained popularity. In Britain, the Burmese Cat died out soon after it was imported from Burma. In the USA, the Burmese Cat found great popularity. A female Burmese Cat was imported into the USA in 1930. It was bred to a Siamese male and then inbreeding was used to preserve the original coat color of the Burmese. The breed was first registered in 1936 by the CFA. In 1958, a uniform standard was adopted by the UBCF (United Burmese Cat Fanciers.) This standard is used throughout America, but European Burmese Cats are judged by other standards.

When choosing a Burmese Cat for showing it, learn the breed standard carefully and be aware of serious faults that disqualify the animal from the shows. Keep in mind that in the USA and Great Britain, the breed standards for the Burmese Cat are different. The British variety of the Burmese Cat for sale is oriental, with a triangular face. The American variety is stocky, with a rounded body and head, and larger eyes, cheeks, and feet.

The accepted coat colors in Burmese Cats depend on the registry the cat is registered with. The CFA accepts only brown, blue, chocolate, and lilac Burmese Cats. Other coat colors have a limited recognition: red, cream, cinnamon, fawn, caramel, apricot; brown, chocolate, lilac, fawn, caramel, and blue tortoiseshell. When you are going to buy a rare color variety of the Burmese Cat for sale, consult with the breeder about the registry that would register it.
